Supernatural thriller analysis
Amityville Horror 2:
the setting of this film is an old house in Amityville, it is set here because it is seen to be a very eerie town in New York. The house itself also looks very old and strange like you would expect a house in a supernatural thriller to look like.
The music is high pitched for the most part resembling a nursery rhyme with a dark twist. We also here dark undertones and a young voice singing which increases the tension of the piece as it can make you feel uncomfortable as many people do not like very high pitched noises.
There is a very strange, uncomfortable, and eerie atmosphere throughout the opening title sequence, this is because of the panning shot of the old 'spooky' house while crocked trees and gusts of wind. Another reason for the uncomfortable atmosphere that is created is the music used in the piece.
The titles are very plain and are bold because of it, they stand out of the dull colours because the titles are bright white. Although the titles stand out they do not impede on the action behind it.
The others:
In this opening there is no real action, there are old looking drawings of a story being told. The story appears to be about a family in a house being taunted by something, this may foreshadow the story in the main part of the film.
The music is the piece is very strange and uses classical music which is a very good way of conveying emotion in the title sequence.
The atmosphere of the piece is strange and can make you feel uncomfortable, this is because the drawings are difficult to see so are therefore confusing and could make people feel uncomfortable.
Like Amityville Horror the titles are very plain but fit in well with the entire film opening as the only colours seen throughout the piece is brown and black. The font of the title is also old fashioned which is the same as the time the film is set.
