Before we create our film opening we must carry out research into the genre and how or why films of this genre draw the attention of an audience.
Our group has chosen to create a supernatural thriller film, which is a sub genre of a thriller.
A thriller usually contains a lot of suspense and tension to build the mood of the film, a thriller tends to involve a lot of cliffhangers and plot twists to fill the audience feeling a certain mood for example anxious or in terror. A supernatural thriller has the conventions of a thriller along with an out of the ordinary 'supernatural' aspect. Most films involve a human protagonist and a supernatural antagonist being an alien, demon e.t.c.
The best known supernatural thriller is The Sixth Sense, it is classed as a supernatural thriller because their is a protagonist with a supernatural ability and a number of large plot twists to keep the audience guessing and anxious as to what will happen next.
